If you hover over the port for an input or output value, and it’s not connected to anything, can you see in a tooltip the type of that port. “Object,” “GameObject,” “String”, etc.
However, if that port has been connected to another node, you no longer see a tooltip describing that port’s type when you hover over it.
I’m not sure if that’s a bug, an oversight, or if the information is moved somewhere else in the GUI and I haven’t seen it yet.
This is actually done by design in a way to minimize UI clutter. The gist is that if a port is connected, then you probably already know what type it is, but I see what you mean 🙂 . I can easily make the type name appear even if the port is connected however.

I think it’s because I use a lot of custom types the names can sometimes be vague, so sometimes I feel the need to double check myself. I can see what you mean though by saying that I should already know about the types. 🙂
